The Process Map - designing in flexibility and choice to qualifications
The QCF does not guarantee that new vocational qualifications will be any more useful than the old ones. Although it is much easier to desgin the qualifications that employers want using the QCF, you need to know how to get the best from QCF to design qualifications to meet employer requirements.
The Credit Works Process Map can be used to design QCF units and qualifications in a systematic, efficient and cost effective way. We developed the Process Map through our work with all Sector and the major Awarding organisations.
We aim to help you make the most of the technical features of the QCF, working systematically to maximise the range of pathways and qualifications using the minimum number of units required. Our approach makes it easier to design in from the outset:
- Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT)
- Progression routes to higher qualifications
- Scope for recognition of prior learning
- and scope to combine units to meet new demands from employers and learners
and at last, to avoid unnecessary duplication and repetition of learning and assessment.
